What Soothes Me

In no particular order:

  • Scrolling through the RealReal

  • Nose-ing around circaholdhouses

  • Real estate in New Mexico - specifically an adobe home with a view of the Sangre de Cristo mountains

  • Watching my Northern Cardinal chirp away in the hackberry by the back fence

  • Using my homegrown parsley in a risotto

  • Watching Ali Wong take no prisoners in Always Be My Maybe

  • Memes of Keanu Reeves

  • Long standing scheduled work calls because it grounds me in non-Covid reality

  • El Fenn instagram posts (I’m so going to stay there when all this blows over)

  • The meditative task of cleaning the crap out of the pool

  • Picking out dead leaves from the pony foot ground cover

  • Dead-heading my rose bushes (Grandpa would be proud)

  • Weeding, yes weeding. Most evenings I’ll squat in the driveway and idly pick away

  • Fantasizing about buying a second wedding dress - blame it on Say Yes to the Dress

  • Watching our bamboo finally start to grow

  • Re-arranging the deck chairs on the patio

  • The anticipation of the redbud in full bloom

  • Texas winter because the summer’s kill me

  • Hoovering the carpet fluff off my rugs

  • Clocking over 10 miles on the exercise bike within the 41 minute time frame

  • Collapsing after the bike ride in a hot, sweaty mess on the floor

  • Pottering about the kitchen while nattering on the phone to my friend Bek

  • My homemade guacamole

  • Catching up with my neighbors over the back fence

I’ll stop here.
